Doors

There are two remedies depending on how much space you have or whether the door needs to be able to be used or whether it can be kept closed permanently.  Either you adhere it directly to the door or you wedge our foam to the door well (or adhere it to a wooden board, which you place separately in front of the door).

If the door has to be opened now and then, you should have the foam cut to the dimensions of the door.  Please keep in mind that the door handle must still be accessible - we can just cut rectangles for you  - you then have to cut the opening for the door handle and keyhole yourself on the spot using a large scissors, for example.  You should also ensure that the foam is not too large. If it touches the ground, it will rub off quite quickly and disintegrate.

If you want to leave the construction as thin as possible, first adhere our double-sided adhesive bituminous foil directly to the door and then our  rebond foam sheets - ideally to both sides of the door so that the insulation is as strong as possible. The thicker you choose the rebond sheets, the better the insulation is. In any case, you should install this insulation at least on the side where the noise also originates. To increase the adhesive strength of the bituminous foil, it is also advisable to use our spray adhesive because the bituminous foil and the rebond foam are heavy.

We can cut the rebond foam to almost any dimension - but up to a maximum of 100 x 200 cm (please request cut via e-mail). If the door well or door is larger, you must piece together the foam and adhere 2 sheets. We carry the bituminous foil only in the dimensions 100 x 50cm and 100 x 100cm.

If you have a lot of space, our 3-layer construction is more efficient  - here, you first adhere our rebond foam plate, then the double-sided adhesive bituminous foil, and then a rebond foam sheet again. The thicker you choose the rebond sheets, the better the insulation. However, the construction is then usually thicker - pay attention to how far you want to be able to open the door because the foam will impinge on the door frame otherwise when you open it. It is best if you adhere the first rebond sheet with our strong mounting adhesive.

If you not want to adhere foam to the door (residues are then present, which have to be sanded down when dismantling), then you can also simply order one large rebond foam sheet of 8 cm or 10 cm thickness from us and wedge this in the door well and remove it when necessary. The length and width of the sheet should exceed the door well by 1 - 2 cm respectively so that it can be well wedged. If you want to play it safe, adhere the rebond foam to a wooden board (from the hardware store) and then place it in the well. The foam alone is namely flexible and may simply fall out of the well otherwise. Naturally, you can adhere the 3-layer construct to the wooden board for this solution also.

If you do not have to open the door any longer, adhere as thick a rebond foam as possible directly to the door or use the 3-layer construction described above (rebond foam - bituminous foil - rebond foam) and adhere it directly to the door. You can do this on both sides of the door to achieve maximum insulation. You can then choose the maximum thickness of the rebond foam since the use of the door is no longer relevant.

Not only the insulation with foam is important, however. You must also ensure that the door closes properly. For this purpose, you need rubber joints or similar from the hardware store so that the chinks around the door are also sealed because a large part of the sound waves can penetrate here also.

Another option for insulating doors otherwise would be simply the installation of a new noise protection door.

Please note: the maximum foam sheet size is 100 x 200 cm - if the door (or the door well) is larger, you would have to use 2 pieces and let us cut it accordinglyPlease make cut requests via e-mail.
